During 1997, the owners Thinus and Maryna van Heerden. received a severance package with the ending of their careers within the civil services. The need for a business was identified. With the first expenses setting up this new venture,they had to decide on a name to operate under. During one of the many discussions in thes regard, it was mentiond that they are creating chaos (in Afrikaans "moles") with the money received from the package. The result was the name "Pakketmoles".

Gedurende 1997 het die eienaars, Thinus en Maryna van Heerden, met 'n skeidingspakket vanuit die staatsdiens getree. Die behoefte is geidentifiseer aan 'n besigheid wat daarop toegespits is om as rugstuen vir ander besighede te dien. Met die eerste aankope vir die nuwe besigheid, moes daar op 'n naam virdie nuwe onderneming besluit word. Vanuit een vandie vele kopkrpgesprekke is daar melding gemaak dat daar nou moles gemaak word met die "pakket" wat uitbetaal is. Vandaar die naam Pakketmoles.
